The Epson Perfection V500 photo scanner is a wonderful device if you are looking for an easy way to digitize your photographs. It can also digitize negatives and slide. However, it is slightly large, but if you do not mind its size, then it is a wonderful investment that you will definitely enjoy owning.
The scanner is perfect for people who have a lot of photographs and negatives. All you need to do is place the negatives in the negative holder, load the holder into the scanner, and then press the start button and allow the scanner to do its job. The negative holder comes along with the scanner at the time of purchase. Also, you have to be careful about placing the negatives in the center of the scanner. The holder can hold up to 4 slides. The Epson Perfection V500 photo scanner can scan photographs, slides or negatives in three modes, namely Auto, Professional and Home modes.
The software that come with the scanner allows you to restore the color of old photographs, and it also allows the removal of dust and scratches. Adobe Photoshop Elements for photograph editing and Abbyy FineReader for optical character recognition are the two software that come with the scanner. In addition, by just pressing a single button, you can convert a scan into a PDF file or send it to an email as an attachment.
The scanner is 18 inches long and nearly 11 inches wide. But, it can scan images only of 8.5 inches X 11 inches. This could be it main drawback, especially since the scanner does not have a built in tool for stitching. However, you can use Adobe Photoshop Elements to join two scans together.
