The Canon Lide100 color image scanner is an all-purpose scanner that is primarily meant for scanning photographs. However, it has the ability to scan high quality images. It is a flatbed scanner with an optical resolution of 2400 pixels per inch. Although the software that comes with the scanner is mainly for photograph scanning, if you have additional programs and software already, you can use this scanner for scanning just about anything.
The software that comes with the scanner include Twain and WIA drivers along with a scan command. The Twain and WIA drivers ensure that you can use the scanner with such about any Windows software. Also, the scanner comes with ArcSoft PhotoStudio 5.5 and MP Navigator EX scan utility. The MP Navigator EX scan utility has optical character recognition, which can convert a scanned text document into a PDF file that is searchable. However, the main purpose of the MP Navigator EX scan utility is scanning and then sending the scanned images to files or as email attachments.
It is very easy to set up the Canon Lide100 color image scanner. All you need to do is install the software and then plug in the USB cable. The USB cable also powers the scanner. So, you do not have to plug in the power cable. The scanner works on Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Vista and Mac operation system 10.3.9 through 10.5.x.
